About Me

About this blog:

My name is John Memmer and I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Service degree from the Clinton School of Public Service located on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. The school not only teaches classroom theory but also real world application, as evidenced by it’s three major public service project requirements: the Practicum, the International Public Service Project(IPSP), and the Capstone. I have already completed my Practicum project, working with Heifer International in Little Rock, and this blog was originally created to chronicle my IPSP work in Argentina during the summer of 2009.

During the process of my IPSP I came to enjoy blogging and discovered that it’s a fun way to keep up with friends and family, while possibly making new friends as well. Thus, I’ve decided to continue blogging sporadically. NOTE- The views expressed in this blog are solely my own and may only be accurate at the time of publishing. My views are in no way representative of the Clinton School of Public Service or any other organization with whom I may be associated.

More About Me:

I am from Houston, TX and graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Political Science. Upon graduating I served a year with AmeriCorps*VISTA, working with the Pikes Peak American Red Cross in Colorado Springs, CO. I absolutely loved Colorado and hope that I make it back there some day. As anyone who knows me can attest, I also love Texas. One main reason is because I have a wonderful family, with 2 amazing (and hip) parents and 2 younger brothers(Chris-23 and Carlin-18) whom I’d do anything for. My family(minus one)

I am the first person in my immediate family to travel abroad (other than Chris’s Spring Break sojourn to Mexico, which doesn’t count because he probably doesn’t remember it) and I am also the first to get my Bachelor’s degree and soon will be the first to get my Master’s. Needless to say, all of these experiences have been very new for me and I’ve had to learn many of the lessons in the moment and on my own. The experiences chronicled in this blog will also be new and exciting for me and I hope I’m able to share some valuable thoughts and lessons with you. Enjoy!
